Playing Foottweet is very easy :)

Purpose of the Game

Foottweet is about supporting your favorite team for the World cup... right on Twitter ! Once you declare you're a fan of a team on foottweet, every tweet you send that has a reference to your team in it (Team name, player name, staff name, hashtag...) is counted FOR your team.

No need to stay on the website during the matches : as soon as you’re a fan you can enjoy the match with your friends, at the pub, while tweeting, and come back later to check your ranking :)

At the end of the match, the team with the most tweets from fans wins (eventhough it loses in real life, that's the magic of it!) and you get credited a Victory! The more you support your team, the more wins you'll get... the highest rank you'll reach :)

How do I play?

• tweet FOR your team DURING a live match of your team!
• You get a point, if your team won the match on Foottweet!

1 – You need a Twitter account !

As the name implies, FootTweet needs you to TWEET. If you don't know what a tweet is, we suggest you go to Twitter.com, open an account and familiarize yourself with their system ;)

2 – You need to declare that you are « fan » of a team !

For your tweets to be taken into account in Foottweet, you need to declare you're a fan of a team. Fairly simple : you go to your favourite team's page, and click on « Fan this Team «. Else, you tweet the name of your favourite team to us in this fashion : « @foottweet fan England », « @foottweet fan France », « @foottweet fan #bra » etc.

Shortly thereafter you'll receive a confirmation tweet and you'll discover (Miracle) your very own player page !

3 – Do I have a player page ?

If you've become fan of a team, your players' page is automatically created. On that page you'll see

• all the tweets that you've sent that are taken into account in Foottweet (Note that, tweets from non-players won't be considered for any statistics)
• nb of tweets sent,
• nb of matches won,
• your overall ranking !

4 – Match view ? What's match view ?

That's what you see when there's a live match in progress ! In Match view, you see the tweets received by each team, in two separate columns : Team A on the left, Team B on the right. The counter at the top counts how many tweets have been sent talking about one team or another – be it in good or bad !

Supporting my team
When you're a fan of, say, Team A, you'll want Team A to win... on FootTweet ! Support your team by tweeting the team name, team players' names, mascot name etc. If you're a fan of that team, your tweet will be taken into account and your team's score will increase !

Criticizing other teams
Once you've become fan of a team, you can always criticize other teams. Your tweets will appear, but they won't count for your own team, nor will they count against the team you're criticizing !

Changing my favourite team
Football being the sport it is, it’s alway possible you make a draw against Algeria, or you lose against Mexico… ;) In that case and to help you continue playing on Foottweet, you can change your favourite team. Simply fan a new team and we’ll just take it into account. Even better, your previous stats on Foottweet remain unchanged ;)

6 – Are my Twitter friends here ?

Foottweet is even more fun when you check what your Twitter friends are saying during the matches. Simply go to your profile page (once logged in, check your name on the top bar), then click on the blue « Add my Twitter friends » button. We’ll scan the people you follow and show you if we find any. You can then add them in one click !
